Welcome to Saint Charles Borromeo!
Here is How We Organize and Function...
The bread of life discourse in John 6 entered its third part this past weekend. I pray that you are following Jesus’ teaching about this life-giving bread. I hope you find yourself and your place connected within the Church – the mystical body of Christ.
We started with Jesus feeding 5000+ people. Then, we learned that feeding is a sign of transforming our mindset and culture, moving beyond static thinking to embrace progress, science, and postmodernity.
In 1962-1965 the Eucharist changed the Catholic Church’s cultural direction to open up to humanity in its different cultures. We see the Eucharist as the source and summit of Christian life itself. By that we mean, the Eucharist is the source that creates us as the Saint Charles Borromeo family. And, as summit, the Eucharist defines our purpose and goal for everything we do.
Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to give you an introduction to how we are organized and operate as a Church, a body of Christ, and as a community here at Saint Charles.
Everyone belonging to Saint Charles is welcome to participate in the life of the Church. Our participation comes in different levels of leadership.
Registered families and members of Saint Charles who are baptized participate in the worship, faith formation, and service of the needs of others. This makes up the life of every Christian.
We have leaders in the Church who ensure the Eucharist builds us as a community and enables us to worship, pray, learn our faith, and reach out in service. Here are the people to call or reach out to when you need attention:
Office Manager:
Our office manager, Mary Hengl, is your first contact person for all questions and any needs. This includes the scheduling of appointments, meetings, and events. Mary will also direct you to the appropriate department for additional help.
Pastoral Staff:
The pastoral staff consists of Church employees who have background knowledge in one or the other aspects of the day-to-day Christian life and the parish. These are the directors of Liturgy, Learning, and Living Pillars.
All ministries in the parish come under one of these Pillars. If you are a coordinator of any ministry, please learn about the director of that ministry’s Pillar and contact that person directly to ensure the success and enrichment of your program.
Pastoral Council:
The Pastoral Council is made up of parishioners appointed by the pastor. Their job is to meet (in council) and make long-range pastoral goals. They set a direction for pastoral activity with which they advise the pastor.
If you have any concerns regarding the parish’s direction or goals, please reach out to the council or councilors in writing. Please note that councilors are not in charge of the day-to-day activity of running the parish. Instead, they set goals and evaluate pastoral activity in light of those goals. Find our councilors on the staff page of our website.
The Finance Council:
The Finance Council is also appointed by the Pastor who (in council) oversees the financial activities and advises the pastor. Their leadership involves helping with budgeting, Human Resources, facilities, and oversight of financial reports on behalf of the Church.
The Pastor or Pastoral Administrator:
The pastor or pastoral administrator is an ordained member of the Church who ensures the leadership bodies successfully fulfill their roles in the organization.
Any concerns you have as a parishioner are also the concern of the Pastor/Pastoral Administrator. However, to ensure efficient communication of your concern, please call our Office Manager, or Director of Liturgy, Learning or Living, or write to the Pastoral Council or one of the Councilors.
Your concern will be addressed in a more timely fashion by reaching out to parish staff directly.

May the Eucharist transform our culture and build us here at Saint Charles Borromeo as the community after God’s own heart – a community of liturgy, learning, and living!
