Rev. Ronald Oakham, O.Carm.
Fr. Ron, a member of the Carmelite Order since 1968, was ordained in 1977.
He has served in parish and diocesan ministry and as a member of the North American Forum on the Catechumenate.
He is noted as a leader in helping parishes implement the Vatican II inspired Rite of Reception into the Full Communion of the Catholic Church through which persons baptized in another Christian community are received into the Catholic Church. Easter Time RCIA Workshop
Friday, April 22nd 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
In the Pope Room
Ministers and Ministries of Adult Initiation
A familiar phrase is that it takes a village to raise a child. Our Church believes it takes a parish to form a Christian. And so, in the introductory paragraphs to the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults it says: "...The people of God, as represented by the local Church, should understand and show by their concern that the initiation of adults is the responsibility of all the baptized." (RCIA #9)
No longer just father's responsibility, it is also not just the initiation team's responsibility, but that of the whole parish. This evening workshop will explore how our church evolves a parish community to be involved with the initiation of adults.
Easter Time Mini-Retreat
Saturday, April 23rd 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
In the Church
The Grace Filled Heart: Baptism - Ever Ancient, Ever New
Vatican II restored the primacy of baptism within the Catholic Church, yet today, almost 60 years later, most Catholics don't recognize the importance of this perduring sacrament in their faith life. This mini retreat will lead participants to reclaim their baptism and appreciate how it graces their lives every day through the images of the symbols used in the sacrament.
