NOMINATE A WORTHY CAUSE
OR CHARITY FOR FUNDING!
St Charles Social Concerns Committee is calling for requests from parishioners for funding of worthy causes. SCC allocates 4.5% of parish plate donations to organizations that provide charity and social justice work locally, within the two county Oakland Diocese, nationally, and internationally.
Last November, the committee approved a total of $29,150 in one-time grants payable in December 2021 to sixteen agencies including Catholic Charities USA, Fertile Groundworks, Jewish Family and Community Services, Keystone Adult Learning Center, and Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley.
Also approved at that time was a total of $20,400 in grants payable quarterly in 2022 to twelve agencies, including Abode Services, Axis Community Health, Goodness Village, Next Step Learning Center, Interfaith Sharing and St. Vincent de Paul food pantries, and St. Anthony Foundation.
In August 2022, the committee approved a $2,500 grant to Open Heart Kitchen and a total of $21,000 in one-time grants to Catholic Relief Services, International Rescue Committee, and World Central Kitchens–half to address humanitarian needs faced by Ukrainians and half for humanitarian relief in other areas most in need.
