Dear St. Charles Borromeo Family:
As we mourn the loss of Pope Benedict XVI, who passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, I invite you and your family to celebrate a Requiem Mass with me this Thursday, January 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church. The Requiem Mass will replace Thursday's regular 9:00 a.m. Mass.
Pope Benedict was a giant of the faith both in the intellectual and practical forms. He gave his life to serve God in the body of Christ, Church, and as a professor of theology. In addition to being a Priest, Cardinal, Archbishop, and Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and Pope, he was - for the first time in seven centuries - Pope Emeritus.
Pope Emeritus Benedict will be missed and remembered for his contribution to the Church in the area of theological and doctrinal explanation of our faith. More importantly, his simple act of humility by resigning from the papacy, allowed the Church the opportunity to move on to heal and progress. May he and all the Faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

A prayer for the Soul of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI
Father, Eternal Shepherd,
Hear the prayers of your people for your servant Benedict,
who governed your Church with love.
In your mercy, bring him with the flock once entrusted to his care
to the reward you have promised your faithful servants.
May he who faithfully administered
the mysteries of your forgiveness and love on earth,
rejoice with you for ever in heaven.

Our Presenter:
Sister Marian Castelluccio, OP
Sister Marian will be kicking off our Winter Season with a presentation that will embrace our theme: “An Attitude of Gratitude and Generosity.”
She was born and raised in Oakland, CA, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in mathematics, and a minor in biology and chemistry. She obtained her theology master's degree in social work and is also a licensed clinical social worker.
Sister Marian has also been a vowed member of the Adrian Dominican Sisters for 58 years. As an educator for eleven years in Arizona, New Mexico, and California, in addition to eighteen years of pastoral ministry service in four parishes within the Oakland Diocese, Sister Marian's achievements have been impressive!
Sister Marian dedicated thirteen years of her professional career to being a Psychiatric Social Worker for Alameda County in a community mental health setting. Currently, she is the Director of Mental Health at Catholic Charities of the East Bay. For the past five years, Sister Marian has been the Clinical Case Manager on the Crisis Response Support Network (CRSN), supporting families who have had a loved one murdered in the City of Oakland.
