Dr. Toinette Eugene is a theological ethicist who is well-known locally and nationally for her academic expertise, publications, and presentations in Black Catholic Theology and social spirituality. She is also known for her leadership in responding to issues of cultural diversity, and sexual and domestic violence.
Toinette holds a Ph.D. in Religion and Society, and an M.A. in Theology and Education earned at the Graduate Theological Union and at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, California. Her B.A. degree is in English Literature from the University of San Francisco.
From 1997-2005, Toinette served as the Director of the African American Catholic Pastoral Center in the Diocese of Oakland. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the School of Applied Theology.
Toinette is currently retired and resides in Oakland, where she is a Co-Moderator of the WINGS Community of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. She is also an avid photographer and a budding artist who enjoys music that fills the soul.
