On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group Al Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. At 8:45 a.m., an American Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. 18 minutes later, a second Boeing 767 - United Airlines Flight 175 - sliced into the south tower near the 60th floor. A third plane hit the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C. and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Michael Hingson was a sales manager in his office on the 78th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center when he heard an explosion. Blind since birth, Hingson will share with us his remarkable story of how his guide dog, Roselle, led him and others down 78 floors to safety.
Michael is the author of New York Times Best Seller “Thunder dog-The True Story of a blind Man, a Guide Dog & the Triumph of Trust” and “Running with Roselle”. He is an international lecturer and Chief Vision Officer for accessiBe.com.
