Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Today, I am writing to you on a number of topics...
Weekday Masses:
- Communion services (instead of Mass) will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tomorrow and Friday, along with next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Our regular 8:30 a.m. weekday Mass schedule will resume on Thursday, January 18.
We live in a culture focused on trivial, unimportant things. The Holy Mass reminds us of what is real and true: Jesus' Incarnation, His death and resurrection, and His gift of eternal life for us with Him in heaven. On days we attend Mass, our participation in the Liturgy will be the most important of our actions.
Newly Published Policies from Bishop Barber:
- Each pastor in our diocese recently received Bishop Barber's newly published policies that cover seven topics. These include Communion services, lay preaching, and kneeling during Mass. Certainly, it is understandable that some parishioners are unable to kneel due to ill health, lack of space, and other reasonable causes. At the moment, we are determining how the policies will be specifically implemented here at St. Charles, and I will publish our implementation plan in the near future.
Martin Luther King Day - Monday, January 15:
- "We thank you, God, for Martin's leadership and vision in the struggle to dismantle racism, and for his tireless work to promote justice and peace for all human beings..." - Unknown Author.
- Our parish office will be closed in observance of the holiday.
I pray that each of you experiences a joyful and blessed new year!
--- Fr. Augustine Joseph
