Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Today, I am writing to provide you with information on these topics:
Healing Mass - Saturday, February 3:
Join us for our annual healing Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, as we ask for God’s blessing for physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional healing. During this Holy Mass, we will also administer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Baptized persons suffering from serious or chronic illnesses are welcome to receive this sacrament.
Our Lord wants to heal us. This is why He “…has willed that His Church continue, in the power of the Holy Spirit, His work of healing” (CCC 1421).
Perseverance in prayer is needed, as healing may happen differently than expected. Pope Benedict XVI stated that “healing is essential to Christianity's mission.”
Men of Faith - Monday, February 12:
I am honored to be invited by the Men of Faith ministry to share my thoughts during their gathering on Monday, February 12, at 6:00 p.m. Also, Bob Lindberg, our St. Charles business manager, will share his faith story with us. Bob and I look forward to seeing all of our male parishioners and guests at this event.
If you aren't already aware, our Men of Faith group is one of the great ministries in the parish, as it spiritually and physically nourishes its members. The appetizing dinners provided by the lead ministers are out of this world and beyond delicious. All men with faith (and those without faith) are welcome and will not want to miss this gathering!
Pilgrimage to Italy - April 7-19:
Join me on a 13-day all-inclusive tour of Italy! This pilgrimage is scheduled for April 7-19 and includes airfare, breakfast, and dinner. Spaces are limited. For more information, please contact Mary Hengl. If you've already decided to join our Catholic pilgrimage bandwagon, be sure to sign up by contacting Mary by next Wednesday, January 31.
A pilgrimage is a journey, often into a place of religious significance, where a person goes in search of new or expanded meaning about one's self, others, nature, or a higher good through the experience. This can lead to a personal transformation, after which the pilgrim returns to daily life with a new perspective.
More specifically, a Catholic Pilgrimage journeys to places significant to our catholic religion, thereby enriching our faith life and growing in our spiritual vivacity.
