Dear St. Charles Parishioners...
The Easter season is important for every Christian and is the most exciting time of year for many of our children, youth, and their parents. On April 14, for instance, five St. Charles teenagers were baptized into our faith and three experienced their first communion.
At 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, May 4, we will hold a special Children's First Communion Mass for the 17 children who have completed their appropriate Faith Formation Classes. I look forward to presiding over this special occasion!
Then, at 11:30 a.m. on Trinity Sunday, May 26, the Most Reverend Bishop Michael C. Barber, S.J. will preside over our Confirmation Mass for the 33 youth who have completed both years of confirmation classes.
In order to build strong relationships with our young families, I - along with a catechist and possibly one parishioner - have begun brief and informal home visits with our faith formation children and their parents. These invaluable sessions provide opportunities for each of us to know one another on a personal level and allow me to better understand and address their needs and concerns.
We've received a terrific response from the families visited so far. As a result, a new ministry has formed for the purpose of arranging these visits. As of this writing, the members of the new Faith Formation Home Visit Ministry are Jim Lucas, Merry Sommers, Holly O'Hagan, and Amanda Swinkels. If you would like to arrange a home visit, please contact Carmela Chy at (925) 447-4549 ext. 115.
Easter Blessings,
Thank you.
