Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
This Sunday, October 20, is World Mission Sunday, and the theme this year is “Go and Invite Everyone to the Banquet.” Pope Francis chose this theme from the parable of the wedding banquet (Matthew 22:9) to emphasize two core aspects:
- Going out: Mission work involves going out into the world, reaching out to those who have not heard the Gospel, and inviting them to experience God’s love. It’s a call to be active and engaged in spreading the faith.
- Inviting everyone: The invitation is universal, reflecting God’s love for all. It calls on us to welcome everyone to the feast of the Eucharist and the ultimate banquet in the Kingdom of God.
We will have a second collection at all Masses this weekend. The funds collected support the pastoral and evangelizing work of the Church, including building churches, providing healthcare and education, and training future priests and religious. In places where resources are scarce, your generosity makes a profound difference. Contributions collected are crucial for sustaining the church’s mission in over 1,150 territories where the Church is still growing or facing persecution.
Your contributions ensure that the Gospel continues to spread, bringing hope, love, and salvation to those in need. Thank you for being part of this vital mission and impacting the global Church.
Blessings,
- - Father Augustine Joseph
