Hello, Parishioners:
We will be blessing the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe during the 11:30 AM Holy Mass this weekend. Mary is the Mother of Jesus, Son of God. It is one of the important ways of manifesting our devotion to the Mother of God. After the Holy Mass, a reception will be held in the hall for all, accompanied by lunch.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is the title given to the Virgin Mary, who appeared to Saint Juan Diego, an Indigenous peasant, on Tepeyac Hill near Mexico City in December 1531. Mary, radiant and clothed in a mantle of stars, spoke in Juan Diego’s native Nahuatl language, asking for a church to be built in her honor. As proof of her apparition, she left her miraculous image imprinted on Juan Diego’s tilma (cloak), depicting her as a mestiza woman, blending native and Spanish features.
This image has become a powerful symbol of faith, unity, and hope, deeply revered in Mexican culture and throughout the Americas. Our Lady of Guadalupe is known as the Patroness of the Americas and of the unborn. Her feast is celebrated on December 12. Millions visit her basilica each year, making it one of the world’s most visited Catholic pilgrimage sites, honoring her message of compassion and love.
May Our Blessed Mother Mary pray for us.
