Dear friends,
Our pilgrimage to Brazil, Argentina, and Chile was a grace-filled journey. We visited many holy places and lifted each of you in prayer. We are deeply grateful for your prayers and kind words, which accompanied and strengthened us throughout our travels.
One of the highlights of our pilgrimage was visiting the majestic statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Standing high above the city, the outstretched arms of Christ remind us of His infinite love and welcome for all people. Looking up at this great monument, we felt small, yet deeply embraced by the Lord’s mercy. It was a moment of awe and prayer, as we entrusted our parish and families to His care. The statue stands as a powerful symbol that Christ is always with us, guiding and protecting His Church.
During our pilgrimage, we visited the breathtaking Iguazú Falls (both Brazil and Argentina sides), one of the great natural wonders of the world. The sight and sound of the cascading waters filled us with awe at the majesty of God’s creation. Standing before this sanctuary of natural wonder, we were reminded of the power, beauty, and generosity of our Creator, who gives us life in abundance. The endless flow of water echoed the unending grace that pours from God’s heart. In that moment, we offered prayers of gratitude, asking the Lord to help us care for creation and protect the gifts entrusted to us.
Our pilgrimage led us to the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Luján, the national shrine of Argentina. This magnificent church, dedicated to the patroness of the nation, holds the beloved image of Our Lady, who draws millions of pilgrims each year. Praying before her, we felt the deep faith of countless generations who have turned to Mary’s intercession. The beauty of the cathedral lifted our hearts to God, while the simplicity of the small statue of Our Lady reminded us that faith grows strongest in humility. We entrusted our parish family and all intentions to her maternal care.
In Chile, our pilgrimage brought us to the towering statue of the Virgin Mary that overlooks Santiago from the summit of San Cristóbal Hill. With her arms gently open, she seems to embrace the whole city and all who come to her. Standing at her feet, we felt the tender presence of a mother who welcomes her children and leads them to Christ. The panoramic view reminded us of Mary’s watchful care over our lives and our parish. We prayed for peace, unity, and renewed faith, entrusting our families and community to her maternal intercession and love.
We did encounter some health issues during the pilgrimage - mostly flu, COVID, or a cold. But they were not serious, and everyone took it in stride.
Thanks to all the pilgrims for their spirit of mutual help, unity, prayerfulness, and joyful and cheerful spirit. Everyone is back home safe. We thank God for everything.
God bless everyone!
